I wish i could find this one article written in I believe the 90’s that went under the radar on abortion. The author said that the “life” arguments are basically useless on either side and what actually matters is that humans shouldn’t have a right to use other human bodies as a resource without consent no matter how alive or sentient they are, even if they’re on the brink of death you have the right to deny them access to you. It probably was too radical for pro-choice activists back in those days but like…that’s the most robust arguement lol so we need 2 being that back and dead the pontifications and splitting hairs about “life” in my honest onion

I found it. Actually, it was written in the 70’s. She was way ahead of the curve.

The article is ‘A Defense of Abortion’ by Judith Jarvis Thomson. Essential reading!

So I have it on the authority of both the animal shelter and the guy that runs the fish and reptile store that this is FINE.

People at the shelter are thrilled to have people come pet/play with the animals to help socialize them, and you can even sign up for scheduled dog walks or other socialization events there! Reptile store guy says that as long as you’re not tapping on the fishtanks or bothering him while he’s trying to help customers, it’s great to have people in the store and learning more about reptiles/getting them accilmated to humans. He even let me hold the boa contrictor once while he was cleaning out her cage.

So go in, be polite and nice to the animals and staff, and have a good time!

All cat rescues I’ve been involved with also look for people to come in and play with the cats, especially kittens, to socialize them.

Two great things about this fish:

1) with its backwards facing teeth, we believe it only has to get one bite on even the tip of another fish’s tail to latch on, then as it gnashes its jaws it basically pulls itself inch by inch over the entire victim. Imagine swimming around for hours while this little shit ever-so-slowly slips up to your head and finished swallowing you.

2) sometimes they swallow something so big that it rots faster than it can be digested, filling their stomach with gas, which causes them to float like a balloon all the way up from the abyss to the surface of the ocean and die of decompression.

It’s not a redemption or reformation - the character themself doesn’t necessarily change morally or behaviorally, but the as the stakes become higher and more serious antagonists are introduced, the original villain seems harmless and friendly in comparison.

So this is a problem. For those that don’t know, this November MA is putting a question up on whether the transgender nondiscrimination law that was passed in 2016 should be repealed.

If this law gets repealed, transgender residents will face discrimination in public places and will have to by law use the restroom based on their assigned sex at birth, not what they identify as.

For those in other states who might be thinking “Oh, this won’t affect me at all!”

It will.

If this law gets repealed, the opponents (the people who approve of the repeal) will try to eliminate transgender protection laws across the United States.

Keep in mind, this article was at the back of the Pride magazine I picked up at a movie theater. Not many people I’ve talked to seem to know that this is going to happen.

I don’t care if this doesn’t fit your blog.
